Adélies on Ice
This mini print features a little group of Adélie penguins, preening and resting on an iceberg. The tail of a humpback whale slips into the water in front of them and the range of beautiful blues of the glacial ice are showcased in all their beauty.
This piece is made from Shelly's own experiences of Antarctica on her six-week artist residency with the Royal Navy, she visited the Western peninsula of the continent which is renowned for its wealth of wildlife.
Icebergs, small and large, provide a convenient resting point for penguins, giving them a platform to sleep and preen in between fishing.
This listing is for a framed version of this print, the frame is wood with a distressed blue/grey painted finish which sets off the colours of the print perfectly.
The frame measures 34.5 cm edge to edge. The printed area is 16 x 11 cm.
